A Level Three sex offender has registered with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office to live in the 500 block of Northeast Adams Avenue in Chehalis.

Tyler L. Knapp, 35,  has been classified as a high-risk to reoffend.

Knapp pleaded guilty to two counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes and one count of second-degree rape of a child in May of 2006.

“The rape conviction stems from Knapp, 18 years old at the time, having sexual contact with a known 13-year-old female.  Around the same time, Knapp also had sexual conversations with two other 14-year-old females, of which he had sexual contact with one of them,” according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Knapp was sentenced to 102 months to life, but as part of a plea, “all but eight months were suspended to allow Knapp to enter into treatment,” according to the sheriff’s office.

While in jail, Knapp violated his conditions of release by contacting a minor and was sentenced to an additional 60 days in jail.

Knapp’s conditions of release were revoked four times since his conviction — in January 2007, February 2016, August 2017 and November 2020 — for violations, which include frequenting locations where children congregate, unauthorized internet access, and entering into unauthorized relationships with females who have children in their care.

“Based on his behavior, Knapp has been identified as a risk to the community and this notification is required,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

Knapp is described as a 210-pound, 6-foot-tall white male with red hair and brown eyes.

Knapp is not wanted by law enforcement at this time.

“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” stated the sheriff’s office in a news release.

Anyone with questions about this notice is encouraged to contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 360-748-9286.
