A Level Three sex offender has registered with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office to live in the 300 block of Southwest 13th Street in Chehalis.

Daniel Richard Vaeth, 68, has been convicted for multiple sex crimes and has been classified as a high-risk to reoffend.

In 1981, Vaeth was convicted on indecent liberties and second-degree rape charges in King County Superior Court in 1981. The offenses occurred during separate sexual assaults that took

place in Seattle. The first involved Vaeth sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female by grabbing

her, exposing himself and then fleeing the area. The second involved Vaeth grabbing a 19-year-old jogger from behind and then pulling her into a wooded area, where she was repeatedly raped.

Other sexual offenses involving different victims were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Vaeth was released from prison on Sept. 16, 2001 after completing his full prison term.

“Vaeth has been identified as a high risk and this community notification is required,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

Veth is described as a 170-pound, 5-foot-seven-inch Native American male with black hair and brown eyes.

Vaeth is not wanted by law enforcement at this time.

“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” stated the sheriff’s office in a news release.

Anyone with questions about this notice is encouraged to contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 360-748-9286.
