A Level 3 sex offender has registered to live in Salkum, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Phillip Earl McCree, 46, has registered to live in the 200 block of Stowell Road.

McCree is 6-foot-3 and weighs about 260 pounds. He’s a white man with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is not wanted by law enforcement at this time but has been identified as a high risk of reoffending.

Documentation shows that in 1999 McCree pleaded guilty in Lewis County Superior Court to third-degree rape of a child. The offense involved McCree having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl. As a result of the conviction, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

He was originally released on Jan. 20, 2002. At the time of his release. he was on supervision with the Department of Corrections. Because of his failure to participate in sexual deviancy treatment and other conditions of his supervision, he was again sentenced to a year in prison.

He was released from prison March 6, 2005.

McCree was convicted of failing to register in 2022 in Lewis County Superior Court.

“McCree has been identified as a Level 3 offender and a clear risk to reoffend, and this community notification is required,” the sheriff’s office stated.

“The individual served the sentence imposed by the court and has properly notified the sheriff’s office of their current address,” the sheriff’s office stated. “The law does not require this offender to do anything other than register. They are not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.”
