A registered Level 3 sex offender has moved to the 1000 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
“The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense that requires registration with the sheriff’s office. Further, their previous history places them in a classification level that reflects the potential to re-offend,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Christopher Michael Rieg, 41, was convicted in Suwannee County Circuit Court in Florida for sexual battery and lewd and lascivious molestation in 2000 for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl who was related to him. He was sentenced to 48 months of supervision, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
In 2006, Rieg was convicted in Columbia County Circuit Court in Florida for exposing his genitals to a 41-year-old woman he did not know. He was sentenced to 12 months of supervision for that offense.
In 2019, Rieg was convicted in Lewis County Superior Court for second-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct for sending an image of child sexual abuse.
Rieg is described as a white male with brown hair and blue eyes who weighs 210 pounds and is 5-foot 11-inches tall.
Rieg is not wanted by law enforcement at this time, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He has served his sentence and properly notified the sheriff’s office of his current address.
“The law does not require this offender to do anything other than register,” according to the news release.
“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated.
“Using this public information to threaten, intimidate or harass sex offenders will not be tolerated by the law enforcement agencies of Lewis County. This abuse could potentially terminate our ability to release this important information to the public,” the sheriff’s office stated in the news release.
