Why is the school district is increasing property taxes from $1.50 to $2.50 per thousand dollars of home or rental value?
Do they not know that we all got hit with a huge increase in our property value assessment? My place had a 21 percent increase in assessed value from last year to this year. This means that without changing the rate, the school district is going to get a 21 percent increase in taxes from me and practically everyone else who had the same thing happen to their property values.
Since when is a 21 percent increase in revenue insufficient? Now they want to increase the taxes on my home on top of that by adding another 66 percent increase in the rate we pay.
I say let the school district try to manage with only a 21 percent increase in my taxes. Their demand for nearly doubling my taxes seems greedy. Vote no on their February attempt to increase taxes. We can approve a fair levy in April.
