As a candidate for the United States Congress, John Braun must answer questions about what positions and legislation he would support if elected.
Would he support Donald Trump's continuous corrosive attacks on the integrity of U.S. elections? Current House Republicans have meekly submitted to Trump's "rigged elections" assertions out of fear His Heinous would throw his MAGA supporters behind a primary election challenger.
Would a Rep. Braun stand up for the integrity of American elections, the beating heart of our democracy, or would he offer a standard, mealy mouthed Republican reply?
The integrity of American elections has been proven in court time after time. Perhaps The Chronicle could do an actual community service and solicit comments on the integrity of our elections from Republican Lewis County Auditor Larry Grove and the Washington secretary of state, Democrat Steve Hobbs. The people who run our elections and know what they are talking about.
Would a Rep. Braun stand up against His Heinous's foreign military adventurism, something MAGA claims to be opposed to? How many more Iran war debacles can we sustain?
Would a Rep. Braun oppose King Donald's mortally stupid tariff program that costs his potential constituents hundreds of dollars annually? Tariffs that do not bring back manufacturing jobs to the U.S. (-55,000 since Jan. 20, 2025) but whose costs his prospective constituents pay whenever they shop at Walmart, Home Depot and pretty much every other retail outlet.
Tariffs have particularly impacted the nation's farm communities, something Lewis County pretends to care about. Farm foreclosure and farmer suicide rates are rising rapidly. Fuel and fertilizer, a large part of farming costs, have risen sharply since the beginning of the misbegotten war with Iran. The Hispanic community, agriculture's primary labor force, is under siege from Trump and his white supremacist advisor, Stephen Miller.
Would a Rep. Braun defend the rule of law in the United States? Congressional Republicans are notably wordless as bite after bite is taken out of our Constitution. Would a Rep. Braun object to the murder of ICE protesters or the U.S. military being on the streets of America come election day this November?
Would a Rep. Braun object to a $1.8 billion slush fund to pay Jan. 6, 2021, insurrectionists who stormed and occupied the U.S. Capitol with the intent of hanging Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others? Traitors who beat the hell out of Capitol Police officers and waved a Confederate flag in the halls of the Capitol, something that did not happen during the Civil War. Rioters who smeared their own feces on the walls of the Capitol hallways?
Would a Rep. Braun object publicly to the unprecedented corruption of His Heinous Donald, his family and his cronies? Objecting privately is, as the saying goes, "not worth a bucket of warm spit." Taxes of Third Congressional District constituents along with everyone else pay for the obscene corruption of King Donald and his court.
Next time you complain about your healthcare disappearing or its costs, note that King Donald has increased his personal wealth by over $4 billion in the 17 months he has been in office.
He simply scoffs at Constitutional requirements like the "Emoluments Clause."
So, a long interview in The Chronicle where John Braun can state his positions on these questions will be coming soon?
I'll believe it when I see it.
