Letter to the editor: The lyrics don’t match the tune

Posted

Republicans are really stepping up their definitions of identity — can’t allow anyone in their ranks that is against America becoming a fascist nation; can’t allow anyone to pray for peace without giving them a rubber bullet in the head.

Shut up about being led by a king who guts the Constitution while holding a cheat sheet of 34 unrewarded felonies. There’s nothing wrong with the government invading its own cities. It’s right as “reign.” Just pull up your big boy pants and stop whining. Take the beating; it’s for your own good.

But no one listens to the lyrics any more, really.

Maybe it’s because some of us find this constant anthem of undying love for the flag (not the people) ringing a bit out of tune. Their platitudes fall on the deaf ears of half this nation’s inhabitants. You know, the ones that “hate the rich and the rule of law?” The Godless “Marxists , Antifa, Pro-Hamas Anti-Semite? The illegal immigrant rapists, the drug addicted killers and the insane asylum escapees?

But never mind that. As a Christian nation, we realize that these minor flaws of the Jesus haters can be forgiven with the mere turning of a prison cell key, the click of a firing squad, or the roar of a jet engine leaving for a foreign concentration camp.

Mainly, we should be extremely aware that freedom is actually a superficial attention diverting “stunt.” The revolutionary war was the first example of this delusion.

Yippee! It’s so nice to see it lain out so plainly and honestly for a change.
