Letter to the editor: Thank you to Centralia police officers for checking on me

Posted

Last evening, at midnight, I was awakened by a loud pounding on my bedroom window.

I looked out but didn't see anyone, so I slipped on my robe and went into my living room where I observed a light through my front door window.

I peeked out and saw two police officers, so I opened the door and asked what was up. The sergeant first asked if I was all right, and when I said I was, he asked if I had called 911, and said they had received an emergency call from the address and asked my phone number. He confirmed the call had come from my home phone.

After we had confirmed that I was OK and had not called 911, we had a nice chat and the officers departed. I went back to bed but understandably couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up and read for awhile. While reading, I wondered, should I be upset with those officers for waking me out of a sound sleep, or should I thank them for checking on my welfare?

Of course the answer is obvious. Unfortunately, I did not get their names, but they know who they are. So thank you and the 911 operator so very much for checking on my welfare.

I thank and express my unequivocal support for you and the rest of Lewis County law enforcement.
