Letter to the editor: R.E. Bennett in the balance

Posted

R.E. Bennett has been working to provide education to the children of Lewis County for almost a century now.

As many of you know, Christ the King Academy, (currently located in Centralia) desires to purchase this historical educational building. This classical school is founded on Biblical values, foundational truth and Godly education.

R.E. Bennett was founded in 1928, then halted during the 2018-19 school year. Ever since then, companies have been debating as to what should be done with this building.

Will this piece of historical significance go to waste? Will we allow this beautiful school to become a modern and insignificant structure with no meaning, robbed of all dignity?

As Americans, we must know the difference between treasures worth preserving and things worth discarding.

My great-grandmother, grandfather and dad had the privilege of attending R.E. Bennett, and if Christ and Academy finally purchase the building, I will have the joy of attending it as well.

In conclusion, why let these random monumental relics fade into the past, when the dedicated staff of Christ the Academy wishes to preserve the old, suspending this precious jewel in time, keeping it the masterpiece it was meant to be?
