Recently, Rev. Alta Smith wrote an article on “respecting our national flag.”
As a Vietnam Marine veteran, my love for this country is limitless. That being said, I carry new flags in my car and, if I see a tattered flag, I will stop and ask if I could replace their flag and retire the tattered one. If no one is home, you may find a new flag by your front door to replace your tattered flag.
I left it there. It was me.
Please respect the flag and retire the tattered ones, retiring the flag with respect and dignity. Please take pride in our flag. It has flown proud for more than 200 years.
