Letter to the editor: Our Washington state government must change

Posted

Washington state has been my home since 1942. I have traveled extensively. I believe Washington is the most beautiful state in the union and was once the best place to live. I believe Washington state currently has about the worst government of any state in the union. I am considering moving to Idaho.

If I thought Gov. Bob Ferguson would read it, I would make this an "open letter to the governor," but he probably would disregard what I have to say. I will send Gov. Ferguson a copy anyway.

So this letter is intended for citizens of Washington who still have an open mind, and whose votes could change our state government.

Our Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Washington state Constitution create the rules that our Washington state government is supposed to function in accordance with. All elected agents of the Washington state government swore to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution and the Washington State Constitution. The Declaration of Independence states that the people "institute (create) the government."

The preamble to U.S. Constitution reads, "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The Washington state Constitution, article one section one, reads, "All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights."

Article one section two states, "The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land."

Clearly, the government is the creation of the people and is required to serve the people. The government belongs to the people. If the government functions against the will of the people, the government is violating the law and its actions are void.

The governor, legislators and supreme court justices are required to do their jobs for the benefit of the people and according to the will of the people. They are employees of and servants to the people.

The following is a partial, long list of Washington state government actions that are contrary to the best interest of Washington citizens, contrary to our Constitution and, mostly, immoral.

• Using the state government to work against federal law enforcement

• Preventing the capture of criminal illegal aliens

• Creating an unconstitutional (not uniform) income tax against "the rich" which will be the setup for an income tax against everybody. (The Washington state Constitution says in part, "All taxes shall be uniform upon the same class of property." There is no mention of income tax in our Constitution. And Washington voters have voted down an income tax about 11 times.)

• Unlawfully attempting to weaken or destroy our Constitutional right to initiatives and referendums and working to destroy them when they become law

• Attempting to control and change the qualifications of who can be elected sheriff

• Turning loose criminals

• Legalize the killing of humans

• Destroying the family as though the government owns our children.

Don't you believe me?  How about 13-year-olds’ medical and school information being kept from children's parents?  How about promoting sex changes of children outside the parents control or even knowledge”

• Children are not allowed to work.

• Parents are not allowed to discipline their children

• Males are allowed in girls’ sports and, unbelievably, males are allowed in girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms

• Expensive new bridges over dry creeks with no fish, while essential bridges are unrepaired and restricted or condemned

• Welfare for able-bodied persons and/or illegal aliens. Welfare is forced charity, which is not charity at al

• The Washington government believes it can control the weather

• Restricting harvesting trees that are supposed to support the schools

• Supporting expensive public schools, which are a failure, while resisting support for successful alternate and private schools

• Stealing $4 billion from the Law Enforcement Officers' and Fire Fighters' Plan 1 Retirement Fund. This fund was paid for entirely by the law enforcement officers and firefighters. Nothing was paid by the state. The state is taking this money only because they control it. Talk about crooked.

• Taking up to $1 billion from the "Rainy Day Fund" to balance the budget

My sweet wife Mary says that a group of kindergarten students could do a better job of running the Washington state government.

Finally, hate for MAGA voters and Trump, and lies, are not a long-term solution to our political problems.

Our Washington state government must change. The above described actions of our present government leaders are so far from what we should have that I find this present situation stupid and beyond my understanding. Please join me in voting them out.
