Letter to the editor: More on the not-so-smart meters

Posted

Lewis County residents, do not be fooled by Lewis County PUD’s announcement that they will be going house to house to “upgrade” our analog meters via “Meter Refresh.”

Their plan is to replace 100% of our existing meters with “smart meters.” PUD staff will not use the term “smart meters” when queried, but that is exactly what they are.

I believe the PUD commissioners and their general manager, David Plotz, are well aware of the direct impact of these meters on our health and privacy, yet they have failed with regard to providing informed consent.

I had called PUD several years ago and was told they would never install these radiation-emitting meters, yet that is happening now. Apparently, individuals can opt out but with a penalty of an extra $25 charge per month (which is extortion; you are paying to defend yourself from harm). I think we can do better and we deserve better. But if that’s the route you want to take, get the opt-out form from either the Morton PUD office or the Chehalis PUD office. Make a copy of it for your own record and post a sign on your meter that you do not consent to this digital, radiation-producing, smart meter/”meter enhancement.”

But first, search out the documentary “Take Back Your Power” on Rumble. Learn how these meters will affect your health, your privacy, your safety and your financial security; learn from testimonials of California citizens who already have to live with this intrusion.

If you object to paying this additional fee or you are concerned for the health of our community, please come to the Morton PUD office meetings, which are held every three months.

The Chehalis branch holds more frequent meetings; refer to the PUD’s website for dates and times. Please come and speak your mind. You will be allotted three minutes. You will not be alone. You will have the support of many others. We have had a good turnout so far, but we need more citizens to come forward to voice their objection to these meters.

Be sure to view the documentary. Skip ahead to hear how these digital, radio frequencies are destroying citizens’ health and learn about the many other harmful capabilities of these meters. Documented health impacts from smart (“enhanced”) meters include cancer, headaches, sleep disturbances, Parkinsons, migraines, nausea, vomiting, muscle spasms, heart palpitations, dizziness, memory problems, cognitive disturbances, flu-like symptoms, worsening of existing health problems, abrupt depression, agitation, hearing problems and malfunctioning of medical equipment such as pacemakers and wireless insulin pumps.

This is a county-wide intrusion and a threat to the residents of Lewis County.

Act now by calling, writing or emailing the PUD to express your objections. It is even more imperative that concerned citizens attend upcoming PUD meetings to demand a halt to the installment of these obtrusive meters.

Editor’s note: The alleged health effects of Lewis County’s new meters are disputed. PUD officials have said the devices emit far less radiation than a cellphone. Coverage of the matter can be found at chronline.com.
