Letter to the editor: Marie Gluesenkamp Perez isn’t a moderate

Posted

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is not a moderate, but she’s telling everyone she is.

It’s been about a year and look at how she’s voted. Judge for yourself starting in 2023.

Jan. 9, a vote for House Resolution 23 would repeal the new 87,000 IRS agents, but she voted against it.

Jan. 11, she voted against House Resolution 26, which would get emergency care to babies born alive in a failed abortion attempt.

March 24, House Resolution 5 supported parents of elementary and secondary education to know the public-school curriculum, meet the teacher and know of any violent behavior. She voted against parents and again voted with her Democratic associates.

April 20, House Resolution 734, would protect women and girls in sports from biological males competing against them, but she voted no. These males also want to use the same showers and locker rooms. When questioned at the Packwood town hall, she said it’s complicated and we really don’t know what a male is.

A moderate would never, ever say stuff like this.

May 11, House Resolution 2, again she voted no, to secure the southern border and stop the massive flow of illegal immigrants into the United States. Criminals are flooding into our country with fentanyl. Washington state is in the top percentile of drug use and deaths.

June 13, House Joint Resolution 44, she reneged on her promise to protect our Second Amendment and voted to ban the pistol brace.

On June 14, House Resolution 277, she voted against eliminating excessive regulation of small businesses, timber and fishing industries. We need these jobs.

July 27, House Resolution 4366, she refused to fund Veteran Affairs, claiming she was protecting veterans from a lack of funds.  Yet the Republicans increased funding by $47 billion.  She wanted funds for transgender surgeries and hormone replacement, COVID mask mandates and abortion-related services.

And to top it off, Gluesenkamp Perez wanted to keep the LGBTQ Pride flags alongside the American flags at all the VA facilities. The Republicans removed these requirements from the bill. So, when Perez says she was protecting the veterans, she was hiding behind the Democrats agenda.

Gluesenkamp Perez is trying hard to convince you she is a moderate. Does any of this sound moderate to you?

I have also noticed she will sometimes vote with the Republicans on the first pass, but when the bill is in the final stage, she will vote against it. Then later she will tell everyone to look at her voting percentage at how moderate she is.

This is why I have always disliked politics.

It is rare to find honorable people in D.C. Gluesenkamp Perez appears to have the full support of the paper with nothing but praise. If you are not doing your due diligence in researching, then you will most likely fall prey to what the media wants you to believe. Our country, along with our family values, are spiraling downward fast. We all need to look beyond the smoke and mirrors today. Tomorrow it may be too late.
