I have dedicated over 30 years of my life as a forester serving Native American tribes. As someone proud to have served the American people, I am disheartened by the recent attacks on the public servants who ensure our country’s operation.
The Trump Administration is undermining the merit-based civil service system through the creation of schedule policy/career (P/C), formerly referred to as Schedule F, an effort to politicize the nonpartisan civil service.
The foundation of the federal workforce depends on the hiring and firing of individuals based upon merit, and the politicization of these processes to bolster agencies with partisan cronies is a disservice to myself, my fellow feds, and my fellow citizens. Schedule P/C would allow that, as it would create a new classification in the federal competitive service.
