Letter to the editor: I’m casting my first vote for a new sheriff

Posted

For the first time since I became a voter in 2016, I will be casting a ballot for a new Lewis County sheriff.

Rob Snaza was already sheriff when I started voting, and I trusted him with my vote in the elections since. He hasn’t just been an excellent leader in public safety for Lewis County; he’s been a great friend to the community.

With his retirement, I believe Gabriel Frase is the best choice to succeed him and lead the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office forward.

Gabe brings nearly 24 years of experience with the sheriff’s office, having served in numerous roles from patrol deputy and detective to sergeant and senior leadership. He knows the department, understands our communities, and has the experience necessary to lead from day one.

I also appreciate his straightforward priorities: protecting our constitutional rights, putting victims ahead of criminals, holding offenders accountable, responsibly managing taxpayer dollars, and ensuring our deputies have the training and resources they need to do their jobs.

Choosing our next sheriff is about who we trust with the safety of our communities and the future of the sheriff’s office. Gabe Frase has earned my trust, and I believe he has earned the opportunity to lead.

I’ll be voting for Gabe Frase for Lewis County sheriff, and I encourage my fellow Lewis County voters to give him their vote as well.
