Letter to the editor: I hope congresswoman can resolve late mail deliveries in Lewis County

Posted

I certainly hope Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has some luck with resolving Lewis County’s late mail deliveries.

My father was postmaster in Seaside, Oregon, for more years than I can remember. Yes, things have changed since he retired in 1987, but all these years later, he would not have tolerated all the late deliveries.

He would have done everything in his power to resolve the issues.

Personally, receiving our local paper after its scheduled delivery date is an irritant to put it mildly. Not getting it two, three or even more days later (if at all) is inexcusable. Worse, and now you’re possibly playing with my life, is not receiving my prescription meds in a timely fashion.

Recently, I asked my pharmacy about an order and was told it had gone out “last week.” I do not know who called whom or pulled the proper strings, but my meds arrived three days later.

So, I’ll no longer grouse about how late my paper arrives — does no good anyhow — but stop holding back on my prescriptions!

Pharmacies’ outgoing mail should be delivered to the post office in a tub or flat, obviously making it priority mail. It needs to be handled in such a manner that it does not sit in the post office overnight, but is delivered the same day as the post office receives it.

No excuses. Period.
