Letter to the editor: I encourage everyone to vote and not vandalize; vote Pickard for port

Posted

With ballots starting to show up in the mail, I have a few things I would like to comment on about the Port of Centralia race.

The debates were a needed event for many of the local races. It was nice to see the candidates, listen to them and hear their interactions. The comments, dirty jabs, about Ally Pickard were unwarranted.

Political cartoons have a very long history in the media. Satire and humor is definitely welcome. It gives us a break from all of the heavy topics and some levity from the dull and drab. Apparently the Port does not like criticism, oh look vampires…

The incumbent talks about being a successful business owner, like I am a better success than my opponent. This is the kind of interplay that turns people off to participating in the democratic process.

What has been asked of the port and its lackadaisical responses for information that is readily available at other port districts in Southwest Washington makes me think it is time to vote for that change.

I have had a sign for Ally in my yard since spring, just hanging out. After the kerfuffle with the debates, I was doing yard work the day after the last debate and found the sign had been messed with.

You could see where they yanked on it. The metal probably bent around their hand and did not come out like they wanted. Oh, don’t worry, the sign has been all fixed. I have not looked at the camera footage yet.

I encourage everyone to vote and not vandalize.
