Marie Gluesenkamp Perez’s recent opinion piece in The Columbian was dishonest.
She claims, “I could not in good conscience vote to shut down the government,” but in reality, she didn’t show up to vote.
Southwest Washington had no representation that day.
That’s not leadership, and she deserves some scrutiny from the local media, especially on something as serious as a government shutdown.
Our communities are already beginning to feel the consequences.
But this is typical Gluesenkamp Perez. Give her credit, she knows how to put out a polished press release — but beyond that, there’s not much to show.
