Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, is a day that will live in infamy.
All of you conservatives who idolized Ronald Reagan, where are you? Or, more accurately, who are you?
After decades of trashing liberals and moderates for being "soft on Russia" you line up like sheep behind the complete capitulation of Vladimir Trump to Donald Putin.
Putin is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths in Ukraine. He does not care any more about Russian soldiers than he cares about Ukrainian civilians. He pulverized the city of Aleppo, Syria, with artillery and aerial bombing killing thousands of Syrian civilians as he tried to prop up the ill-fated Bashir al-Assad regime. Putin is, as John McCain said, "a thug, a bully and a murderer."
Spare me any umbrage over the unfairly maligned Trump. You will try to gaslight everyone that Trump was trying to get a peace deal.
He is not. He is laying the groundwork for cutting off all aid to Ukraine and aligning the United States of America with Russia. His choreographed ambush of Ukraine President Zelenskyy in the Oval Office was a repulsive display of Kremlin talking points. It did not humiliate the brave Ukrainian but rather heaped ignominy on Trump and by extension the United States.
Like Trump's betrayal and exclusion of Afghanistan's government from the "peace deal" Trump signed in Doha, Qatar with the Taliban that gave them everything they wanted, so too he will now betray Ukraine.
The difference is that Ukraine is in Europe with a history of wars that kill millions. But not to worry. Trump will likely pull the U.S. out of NATO so we will not have any obligation to defend the democracies of Europe when Putin comes calling for the return of more of the old Russian Empire. Will Trump object if Putin demands the return of Alaska?
People have for years wondered what compromising information Putin might have on Trump to make him so servile to Russia.
Whether Trump is on the KGB payroll is a moot point. He is doing everything that would be expected of a high level KGB asset.
Right in front of our eyes.
