Surely Republican state Sen. John Braun cannot believe President Donald Trump’s endorsement of his candidacy for Washington’s Third Congressional District comes with no strings attached?
Like a mob boss, Trump expects utter, abject loyalty in return for his support.
If elected, Braun must demonstrate his loyalty to Trump, not to the Third District. Like all GOP members of the House and Senate, Braun would have to spend the majority of his time serving Trump’s lies, not the interests of his constituents.
Since the primal Trump lie he would have to serve is “rigged elections,” Braun must not deviate from King Donald’s assertion that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him by Joe Biden.
So, a simple question for John Braun: Who won the 2020 presidential election?
If he cannot simply state, “Joe Biden won,” how can anyone believe he would represent the interests of Southwest Washington?
Braun touts himself as the anti-tax candidate but there are a multitude of tax issues where Braun would break Boss Trump’s heart if he stood his ground against taxes.
Can we assume that anti-tax Braun would vote to overturn Boss Trump’s tariffs? They are the largest federal sales tax ever levied on Americans. And they have done nothing to return manufacturing to the United States. Minus 75,000 manufacturing jobs in the U.S. since Trump took office in January 2025.
Can we assume Braun would vote to rein in Trump’s war powers and his misbegotten war with Iran? It has already cost American taxpayers likely $100 billion and there is no end in sight.
Can we assume Braun would oppose funding for Boss Trump’s White House ballroom, reflecting pool, Trump Victory Arch and sundry other vainglorious Washington D.C. beautification projects?
American taxpayers will pay for them despite Trump’s claims to the contrary.
Can we assume Braun will vote to rein in the brazen corruption of Boss Trump and his family and inner circle? The “emoluments clause” to the Constitution used to mean a president could not take small gifts or mementoes from foreign leaders. Trump takes a $400 million Boeing 747. He enriched himself by $2.2 billion in 2025 and has added another $1.8 billion in graft so far in 2026. Much of Trump’s corruption comes from contracts he forces upon corporations that have business with the U.S. government with a sugary bite for himself on the side.
Is Braun OK with paying millions of dollars to the rioting, seditious thugs who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, beating the hell out of Capitol police officers, smearing their feces on the walls and threatening to “Hang Mike Pence?” Or creating immunity for Trump and his family for past corrupt tax returns?
Are Braun and MAGA OK with Trump, his family and his cronies smearing big handfuls of corruption right on their faces?
If so, send another Boss Trump boot-licker to Congress? Vote for John Braun.
