Last week, I attended the Voetberg Family Concert, and I left feeling like I had just stepped out of a little revival meeting disguised as a music show.
If anyone ever doubts that God pours out gifts abundantly, they simply haven’t met the Voetbergs.
This remarkable family of 10 grown children can play just about anything with strings, keys or frets — piano, fiddles, guitars, bass — and they play with a joy that can only come from the Lord.
Each of them now has a family of their own, some with nine children, others with six, five or four.
Their grandchildren, with the oldest just 14, joined in the singing and playing, and it was a beautiful picture of faith being passed from one generation to the next. “Train up a child” wasn’t just a Bible verse last night — it was a living, breathing melody right before our eyes.
Throughout the evening, they shared the unmistakable message of Jesus. Their harmonies carried the gospel as clearly as any sermon, and the joy that radiated from the stage reminded me of Psalm 98: “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
Well, the Voetbergs don’t just make a joyful noise — they make a joyful orchestra.
The extended family filled the audience, lovingly holding the littlest ones so their parents could bless us with their music. And their dad — the humble, non-musical one — stood off to the side with a quiet, unmistakable pride that said, “God has been good to us.”
In a world so full of division, anger and worry, the concert felt like a breath of heaven. I walked away with my heart full, my spirit peaceful and my faith encouraged.
It was a reminder that God is still at work, still speaking, and still using families like the Voetbergs to shine His light.
To the entire Voetberg family: thank you. Thank you for sharing your gifts, your testimony, your love for Jesus and your beautiful example of faith in action. You bless this community more than you know.
