The accolades for the Rochester High School football team poured in heading into a Week 10 game this week that will determine whether another contest in November is on the table.
Junior tailback Ethan Rodriguez was the catalyst of the Warriors’ power running attack and his high yardage and touchdowns numbers propelled him to be named the Class 1A Evergreen League MVP on the all-league teams released on Monday.
In Rochester’s first year in the league, it left with the MVP, Lineman of the Year in junior Wyatt Dahl and its coaches won Coaching Staff of the Year. It also finished with 10 first team all-league recipients, tying Montesano for the most.
The Warriors upended Monte 16-12 to capture the league title for the first time since last century. Rodriguez played a big role in that, sitting at 1,328 yards and 19 touchdowns through nine regular season games.
Tenino had two first team all-leaguers – both on defense — and the league’s offensive MVP in Michael Vassar. Here is a complete list of the all-league selections:
