Late pair lifts W.F. West over North Thurston

The W.F. West offense didn’t do a lot on Friday against North Thurston, but a two-run sixth was all the Bearcats needed to top the Rams 2-1.

W.F. West (12-4, 6-2 2A EvCo) was held scoreless in the first five innings, but Nate Dahlin allowed just one run in five innings and Cole Ozretich held the Rams scoreless in the top of the sixth.

Connor Coleman started the rally with a single, and a walk and hit by pitch loaded the bases with one out. Jake Remund drew a walk to tie the game, and Isaiah Nachatilo-Smetzler brought home the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

After allowing a one-out double in the seventh, Ozretich picked the runner off at second, and then he drew a groundout to end the game.

The Bearcats return to league play on Monday, when they host Aberdeen for the first of a two-game set.
