Kelso Police Officer Called in to Slay 'Very Large' Spider

It was the stuff of arachnid nightmares.

Fall is the time when spiders typically get large, but one was apparently too intimidating for a Kelso woman to handle Sunday morning.

Few details were available, but a 911 dispatcher took a call from an Allen Street woman reporting that a "very large" spider was blocking her entry doorway. She said she was afraid it would bite her if she tried to enter.

Dispatchers told the woman they could not promise an officer would respond. The caller later reported that the spider had moved enough for her to get inside her home.

Nevertheless, Kelso patrolman Aaron Marthaller responded and, according to 911 logs, "dispatched the spider by foot, saving the lives of countless people."
