Kelso Motorcyclist Faces Felony Charge in I-5 Crash South of Chehalis

A Kelso motorcyclist injured in an accident on Interstate 5 about 15 miles south of Chehalis is facing charges of felony eluding and driving under the influence.

Michael B. Hills, 42, of Kelso, was driving a 1998 Honda VTR1000 motorcycle southbound at 9:42 p.m. Monday on I-5 at a high rate of speed, according to the Washington State Patrol, when he collided with a 1996 Peterbuilt semi-trailer driven by Ronald A. Johnson, 49, of Cottage Grove, Oregon.

Hills was injured and transported to PeaceHealth - Southwest Medical Center. Johnson was not injured.

The accident was caused by speeding, according to the State Patrol. Hills faces charges of eluding a law enforcement officer, a felony, and driving under the influence. Drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
