Kaut’s sacrifice fly lifts Tigers over Fishermen in nine

Hayden Kaut delivered another game-winner on Thursday, lifting the Napavine softball team to a 4-3 over Ilwaco with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth.

It took the Napavine (1-1) offense nearly the entire game to get going, as the Tigers were down 2-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh. They clawed across two runs to tie it, but entered the ninth down 3-2 after Ilwaco took the lead in the top half of the ninth.

In the final half-inning, Clara Fay drove in Hannah Fay with a triple, and Kaut brought her home with a sac-fly to end it.

Hannah Fay went 2-4 at the plate with a triple and two runs, and she also went the distance in the circle. There, she allowed just four hits and two earned runs while walking three and striking out 12.

The Tigers are back in action next Thursday, when they’ll welcome Mossyrock.
