Join the eighth annual Labor Day float on the Cowlitz River by launching kayaks, paddle boards or canoes at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 at the Castle Rock boat launch, 5040 West Side Hwy. near the high school.
Organizers say the event is for all ages.
The group will stop for lunch at about 1 p.m. at the Riverside Park sandbar. People can pack a lunch or order delivery near the dike area from nearby Lexi’s Pizza Pub.
The float ends around 4 or 5 p.m. at Gerhart Gardens Park in Longview.
Participants will need to arrange for a ride back to the Castle Rock boat launch, if needed.
For those who want to continue the fun, head to The Oasis in Castle Rock or Porky’s in Longview.
Organizers suggest camping at Silver Lake Resort or Seaquest State Park on Saturday for those who are out of town.
