Jean Hays

Jean Hays went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 while being attended to by her familiar care givers at Sharon Care in Centralia, Wash.

Jean was born to Michael and Margaret (Telford) Henderson on Nov. 3, 1927 in Whitemouth, Manitoba, Canada.  In December 1947, Jean married Finley Hays who preceded her in to heaven on Dec. 3, 2008.  During the early years of their 61 years of marriage, Jean followed Finley up and down the west coast as he worked in the Timber Industry.  Together in 1964, they launched Loggers World Publications which included Loggers World, Timber Cutter, Log Trucker and Christian Logger.  They sold the publication and retired in 1989.

Jean was naturalized as a U.S. Citizen on July 7, 1952.  She loved their dogs, cats and enjoyed planting flowers and attending to  her garden.  She was a gracious hostess and the coffee was always on!

Jean is survived by her step-daughters, Bette Schueler of Port Angeles, Gail (Jim) Holding of Chehalis, Kay Matteston of Hillsboro, Ore.; sister, Florence Lacasse of Bellingham; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Jean was held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at Claquato Cemetery with Pastor Will Karch and Pastor Don Brown officiating.
