An Army deserter who was sentenced in absentia to 64 years in confinement Jan. 19 has been arrested, authorities have confirmed with The News Tribune.
On Friday, officers with the Army Criminal Investigative Division (CID) arrested Jonathan Kang Lee. The CID provided limited details.
“Specialist Jonathan Kang Lee, a deserter of the U.S. Army, was apprehended by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of local authorities on Jan. 26 and transferred to military custody,” a CID spokesperson said.
Lee was convicted and sentenced for felony offenses during a military court martial held on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, according to the Army. The Army did not describe the felonies.
Lee was last seen Jan. 14 on JBLM. A Be on the Lookout (BOLO) notice posted Jan. 24 asked the public for information leading to his capture.
A source close to the investigation told The News Tribune that Army CID was tracking Lee and arrested him Friday at a residence in Redmond.
Redmond Police Department spokesperson Jill Green referred The News Tribune to the Tukwila Police Department. Tukwila Police did not return messages seeking comment Saturday.
