James G. Prather

James G. Prather of Napavine, 79, was born Jan. 2, 1939, in Stillwater, Okla., and passed away June 27, 2018. 

He served in the United States Army for five years. After graduation from Western Washington College in 1970, Jim began a long career of teaching and coaching at White Pass and Napavine schools. He was dedicated to his family, students and athletes and treasured the friendship of his many colleagues. Jim especially enjoyed sports, art and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise of Napavine; daughter, Jill (Steve) Clear of Chehalis; sons, J. Dennit (Michelle) Prather of Greybull, Wyo., Joel (Kelly) Prather of Auburn, Wash., Jerry (Jennifer) Prather of Everson, Wash., Jason (Mary) Prather of Napavine, Wash., and Justin Prather of Centralia, Wash.; and brother, Gary (Shirley) Prather of Arizona. He was the proud "Papa" of 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at the Veterans Memorial Center in Chehalis, from 2 to 5 p.m.
