Freshman Emalie Jacoby had a hand in 51 points for Onalaska on Thursday, and the Loggers needed just about all of them to beat Morton-White Pass in five sets 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 21-25, 15-10.

“It was a battle and both teams worked hard,” MWP coach Jamie Brazil said. “The team who wanted it more took the W tonight; wish that would have been us, but it wasn’t.”

Jacoby hammered down 30 kills, and also logged five aces and dished out 16 assists. On defense, she led the Loggers (7-5, 3-2 C2BL) with 25 digs.

Leah Hamilton added six kills and Sommer Zurinskas had five. Braelyn Babb logged 15 assists for Ony, while Capri McGraw had 23 digs and seven assists.

Aliana Morales joined Jacoby on five aces.

“It was great to see the team power through and get a fought-after victory,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said.

Onalaska will host Eatonville on Saturday, before returning to league play Tuesday against Napavine. MWP will host Rainier in Morton on Tuesday.
