Jack A. Sharp "Grandpa Jack"

With his family by his side Jack A Sharp 83, Toledo, passed away August 11, 2011 at Providence Centralia Hospital of congestive heart failure.

Born December 8, 1927, in Picher, OK to William H. and Ruby Opal (Callahan) Sharp, Jack was his Mothers only child to live past infancy.

He served in the US Navy during WWII, and the USAF during the Korean Conflict. He left the service with an honorable discharge in 1951.

He married his wife of 58 years Marie Louise Rakoz in Castle Rock, WA on October 19, 1952.

While living in Castle Rock he was a devoted member of the Mt. St. Helens Motorcycle Club, as well as owning and operating The Castle Rock Barber Shop. He made many friends fishing the Cowlitz and Toutle Rivers. He was a proud member of the Friends of the Cowlitz, DAV, and VFW.

In 1974, they moved to Toledo. “Grandpa Jack” was a familiar face at his Grandson’s baseball games and at equestrian events at the SWW Fair.

Jack is survived by his wife, Marie, son Rocky (Susan) Sharp, Olympia; daughters Sandra (Dan) Taylor, Rochester, Shana (Glenn) Sharp, Onalaska, mother-in-law Edna Patching, Toledo, sisters  Shirley, Dusty, Joyce, and Wilma,  brother Bill Sharp, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins nieces and nephews as well as beloved pets Kylee, Walter, and Itty Bitty.

Preceded in death by his mother Ruby, father Bill, and step-mother Maxine, sister Betty Louise and brother Robert Sharp. Three daughters, Ruby Francis Sharp, Mary Beth Gorrell, Debra Marie Stuckey and great-grandson Glenn Lee Rabbitt.

A Potluck Celebration of Life will take place on August 20, 2011 from 12-3 at the Cowlitz Prairie Grange 5180 Jackson Hwy, Toledo.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Au, Seattle VA Pulmonary Clinic, for the extra years with Dad, and the staff at Providence Centralia Hospital for their kindness at the time of his passing.
