The Tenino girls soccer team’s season came to an end on Thursday in White Salmon, as the Beavers fell to Columbia (White Salmon) 3-0.
“We felt pretty snake bit in this one,” Tenino coach Dave Montgomery said.
The Beavers had a few chances on throw-ins near the 18-yard box, but none of them materialized into solid shots on net.
Columbia got on the board in the 20th minute, and the Bruins doubled their lead on the last play of the first half. They made it 3-0 just two minutes into the second half.
“We weren’t able to get much after that,” Montgomery said. “Not for the lack of effort. The players left it out on the field.
Allison Kalkus had eight saves in net. Tenino finishes its season 8-10-1 and will say goodbye to five seniors — Allison Kalkus, Paisley Garcia, Holly Thoren, Nessa Culp, and Kaycee Jones.
“The season had its ups and downs,” Montgomery said. “So many players took some huge strides this year. It was hard to say goodbye to our seniors and to this season, but we were all grateful to take the journey together.”
