The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident where a 51-year-old Vader woman reportedly shot her 54-year-old husband in self defense.

Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was airlifted to a Vancouver-area hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

“At this time this is still very much an active investigation, and due to the nature we are not releasing additional details at this time,” said Field Operations Bureau Chief Dusty Breen in an email to The Chronicle on Friday.

Before a request for information by The Chronicle following questions from neighbors, the sheriff’s office had not previously announced news of the shooting.
