For the second year in a row, the Tumwater Thunderbirds came up one win shy of a state title. Anacortes won its second title in a row with a 20-10 win.
Last year’s matchup was a shootout, but the first points of Saturday’s game didn’t come until the second quarter, when Anacortes’ Ryan Harrington found Rylin Lang for a 33-yard touchdown.
Cash Short converted on a fourth and goal on the following drive to tie the game at seven before halftime.
Dylan Stevens hit a 28-yard field goal to give the T-Birds the lead late in the third, but Brock Beaner broke free for a 59-yard touchdown moments later.
Anacortes pushed its lead to 10 with a touchdown early in the fourth.
Tumwater was able to get into the red zone on its next two drives, but it came away with zero points on those two drives.
Full story to come.
