Incumbents all ahead in Chehalis council races; Sisemore, Chapman and Curtis lead in Centralia

Initial results for the 2025 general election were released by the Lewis County Auditor’s Office on Tuesday night.

As of 8 p.m., 14,979 ballots had been counted for a turnout of 25.42%. The next tally will be announced on Wednesday, and the election results will be certified on Nov. 25. There are an estimated 1,204 ballots remaining to be counted across the county.

Port of Centralia

In the race for the Port of Centralia Commission District No. 2 seat that has drawn much local attention due to multiple contentious debates, incumbent Julie Shaffley trails challenger Ally Pickard. Shaffley received 1,650 votes, or 47.77%, and Pickard has 1,783 votes, or 51.62%. 

Shaffley was appointed in 2015 and was elected later that year and reelected in 2019 to a six-year term.

Centralia City Council

Four seats are up for grabs on the Centralia City Council. In District 2, former City Councilor Leah Sisemore leads challenger Ray-Chapman Wilson by just seven votes for the seat currently held by Sarah Althauser, who did not seek re-election. Sisemore earned 242 votes, or 50.52%, and Chapman-Wilson earned 235 votes, or 49.06%.

For the District No. 3 seat currently held by Max Vogt, who did not seek reelection, Kevin Curtis leads Tera Haskins, as Curtis received 389 votes, or 69.34%, while Haskins picked up 164 votes, or 29.23%.



Norm Chapman, the incumbent in the District No. 1 seat, leads challenger Lisa Striedinger after the initial results. Chapman is in first place with 349 votes, or 68.57%, while Striedinger has 157 votes, or 30.84%.

Tucker Voetberg is unopposed in the District No. 4 seat as Mark Westley opted not to seek re-election.

Chehalis City Council

Five Chehalis City Council seats, including two unopposed, are up for election.

For the Position 1 at-large seat, incumbent Kate McDougall leads challenger Elijah White. McDougall received 541 votes, or 57.13%, while White, an employee with The Chronicle, received 401 votes, or 42.34%.

Kevin Carns, the incumbent in the Position 2 at-large seat, leads challenger Jack-Allen Snodgrass after election night. Carns tallied 640 votes, or 69.26%, while Snodgrass tallied 278 votes, or 30.09%.

Bob Spahr, the longtime incumbent in the Position 3 at-large seat, leads challenger Jessie Carver. Spahr received 579 votes, or 61.01%, and Carver logged 365 votes, or 38.46%.

District 1 incumbent John Six and District 2 incumbent Michael Barton will maintain their seats on the council in their respective unopposed races.

Port of Chehalis

Paul Ericson, incumbent Port of Chehalis commissioner in District No. 2, will maintain his seat in an unopposed race.
