In loving memory of Rhona Lee Barr: 1960-2024

Posted

Rhona Lee Barr (Carr), a long-time resident of the Napavine area, was granted her wings at the age of 63, on fiJan. 17, 2024. Her final days were spent with family by her side at her home.

Rhona was born on May 5, 1960, in Portland, Oregon, to Romona and William Carr. She was the youngest of three, having two older brothers. She was raised in Rochester, Washington. She enjoyed spending time with her horse and just being a tomboy.

She married her high school sweetheart, Ervin Johnston, and they had two children, Josh and Lisa. Although they divorced, they stayed best friends for the remainder of her life. Her daughter Cindy was born to her and her second husband in 1990. Rhona then met the love of her life, Douglas Barr, in 1999. They started dating shortly after. They married in July of 2021, and she was a very beautiful blushing bride.

Rhona worked at Frosty’s for over 20 years. To Rhona, Frosty’s was a second family. She never beat around the bush; she always spoke her mind. Some people were offended, while others that knew and loved her accepted her the way she was. To be loved by her, you were really loved. You could feel it in her hugs, her words, her stories, her laughter. You knew exactly where you stood with her.

In March of 2023, Rhona was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We are thankful she was able to take one more of her most loved trips to Mexico in November. She fought until her last breath. Anyone who knows Rhona knows she didn’t just lie down and take it. She may have been small, but she was mighty!

Rhona loved everything about summertime. She loved camping, taking trips to Mexico, going to the casino and outdoor concerts. She loved making memories with all her loved ones. Most of all, she loved her family, Doug, her kids, her grandkids and her fur-babies. She loved being a grammy, and it’s no secret that her grandbabies meant the world to her.

She is survived by her husband, Doug, and their fur-babies, Baylee and Billee; her son, Josh Johnston, and his kids, Addison, Harper and Hayson; her daughter Lisa Lester (Carl) and their kids, Chloe, Calista and Caylee; her daughter Cindy Thayer (Mike) and their son, Drake; her brother, Rob Carr (Michelle); her step-son, Caleb; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother (Bill), step-daughter Lacey and a few friends.

We are having a silent auction and spaghetti feed to help with medical bills and memorial funds on Feb. 17. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rebekah Hall located at 111 Washington St. Napavine, Washington.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, at Frosty’s at 1 p.m. Please come help us celebrate Rhona’s life.
