Tracy Alden Torgerson passed away peacefully in his longtime home of 44 years on Sept. 27, 2026.
Tracy was born Aug. 11, 1959, to Alden and Elizabeth Torgerson in Anchorage, Alaska.
Elizabeth (Betty) had been told she could not have children, so at the age of 40, Tracy was quite the surprise. Tracy was an only child and grew up with a rambunctious spirit. In 1973, Tracy and his parents relocated to Napavine, Washington, to be closer to family friends. Tracy attended Napavine High School and graduated in 1977.
In 1980, Tracy reconnected with his former neighbor from Alaska, Diane Pallas, whose family had also moved to the Napavine area. Diane was a single mother, and Tracy took in her son, Brian, as his own. After dating for a couple of years, they married on March 27, 1982. Shortly after, Tracy and Diane started Torgerson’s Wrecking at their home on Conrad Road. Just a few years later, they had outgrown the space and purchased the Highway 603 property in 1985, where Torgerson’s Wrecking still resides today.
Tracy and Diane welcomed their second son, Brandon, on July 24, 1983. They completed their family on July 25, 1990, when their third son, Kacey, was born. Brian, Brandon and Kacey always knew how much their dad loved them and learned a lot from him throughout their lives. Each of them carries a part of Tracy with them, along with the lessons, memories and stories they shared with their dad.
Tracy enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles and was always up for having a good time. He also loved working on cars. He restored many cars over the years and spent more than 40 years working at the wrecking yard alongside his sons. Tracy could tell you exactly what part you needed and exactly where it was in the yard without missing a beat. His knowledge of cars came from a lifetime of hands-on experience, and it was something he was well known for.
In 2012, Tracy began dating Kristy. Over the years, they shared many experiences together, including going on motorcycle rides, spending time with friends and being with their grandchildren. In 2022, Tracy and Kristy were married. Kristy remained a part of Tracy’s life through his final years and was by his side as his life came to a close.
Anyone who knew Tracy would likely say one of three things about him: He was always ready to help a friend in need, he knew cars like the back of his hand, or he was simply one of a kind. All were true.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, Alden and Betty Torgerson. He is survived by his wife, Kristy; his three sons, Brian Torgerson, Brandon Torgerson (Treiva) and Kacey Torgerson (Cortney); his stepchildren, Dakota Cole (Candace) and Mckenzie Baker; and his grandchildren, Caden Torgerson, Cash Torgerson, Chance Torgerson, Lucy Torgerson, Ace Torgerson, Elsie Torgerson, Oakley Cole and Kennady Cole.
Tracy will be deeply missed by his family, his friends and the many people whose lives he touched over the years. There was only one Tracy Torgerson, and those who knew him know there will never be another quite like him. His huge heart and unmistakable personality will live on through the lessons he taught, the stories that will continue to be shared and, most of all, through his sons and grandchildren who will proudly carry the Torgerson name forward.
Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
