In loving memory of Tracy Bonagofski: 1961-2025

Posted

Tracy Allen Bonagofski, 64, of Olympia, Washington, passed away Dec. 4, 2025. Born Aug. 6, 1961, Tracy spent his life in the south Puget Sound region of Washington State. He attended Washington Elementary in Centralia and later graduated from Tumwater High School.

In his working life, Tracy valued hands-on work and took pride in contributing behind the scenes. He was last employed at Trader Joe’s, where he worked in the warehouse.

Outside of work, Tracy enjoyed working with his hands and had a long-standing interest in vehicles, mechanical projects, and motorcycles. One of his most meaningful pursuits was working on vehicles connected to family history, including his father’s 1908 International Horseless Carriage — a project that reflected both his mechanical curiosity and appreciation for craftsmanship. Tracy was also generous with his time and skills, often helping others with construction and maintenance projects. His generosity knew few limits; he gave freely, sometimes even when it came at personal cost.

Tracy shared a close bond with his sister, Teresa Mason (Bonagofski), who was both a sister and a trusted friend and confidant throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Bonagofski and Joanne Carol Johnson, and by his brother, Todd Bonagofski.

Tracy is survived by his sister, Teresa Mason (Bonagofski) of Henderson, Nevada; his brother, Troy Bonagofski of Centralia, Washington; his stepmother, Nita Bonagofski; his son, Ronald Rothschild (formerly known as Aaron Bonagofski); his stepbrother, Troy-Skott Pope; his stepsister, Amy Pope; and extended family and friends.

In a final act of generosity, Tracy gave the gift of life through donation. His corneal donation restored sight to two individuals, and his tissue donation benefited dozens of others.

Arrangements are entrusted to Funeral Alternatives, in partnership with People’s Memorial Association.
