In loving memory of Todd Timothy Watson: 1966-2023

Posted

Todd Timothy Watson was born Nov. 19, 1966, in Newport Beach, California, and went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2023, in Frances, Washington.

At 10 months old, Todd traveled to Washington with his parents, Jim and Connie, and they fell in love with the area and decided to move to Chehalis. In 1985, Todd returned to California and settled in Lodi with his first wife, Pauline. There, at the age of 20, his daughter, Katie, was born. With the cost of living too high to raise a family, they relocated to Arnold, California, in 1988 where Todd became a painter’s apprentice. In 1992, Todd and his family moved back to Washington into an old rental property in Rochester that his parents owned. That property on Prather Road is the property he was so proud of and joyfully referred to as “the farm.” In 1993, Todd started Spectrum Painting. Todd was a hard worker and was able to build Spectrum Painting into a successful company, making it through the recession and many other hard economic times. Because of his hard work, Todd was able to retire at the age of 54.

Todd was known for living his life to the fullest. He was a volunteer firefighter in Grand Mound and later became a fire commissioner. He enjoyed his long motorcycle rides with his dad, Jim, and brother, Rich, and occasionally his nephew, Shem. Their adventures took them all over the state. Todd also enjoyed hiking with his brother, Rich, mom, Connie, daughter, Katie, and grandson, Garrett. Todd was also known for his love of classic cars and the occasional burnout. He was a proud supporter of his community and a member of Grace Church in Chehalis. Todd gave back in many ways. He always donated to the Centralia Police Department K9 Association, held a position on the planning commission, and donated time to paint over graffiti throughout Centralia. He also repainted the George Washington mural on the Key Bank building.

Todd is preceded in death by his father, Jim Watson; stepfather, Jerry Scherer, aunt, Ardith “Dee” Turnbull; and brother, Bob “Buck” Watson.

He is survived by his mother, Connie Scherer; brother, Rich Wilson; sisters, Debbie (Shawn) Grose and Kristi (Donelle) Scherer; daughter, Katie (Roger) Moore; his grandson and sidekick, Garrett Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

flIn lieu of flowers, Todd talked about setting up a trust account for Garrett, which is set up at Security State Bank. Todd was also a supporter of the Centralia Police K9 Association.

A memorial classic car cruise will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25, starting from the Lewis County Mall and cruising through downtown Centralia. A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Aug. 27 at Grace Church, 1866 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis.
