Survivors include his loving wife, Marsha; daughters Kelly Verd (Mike), Onalaska, Washington, and Carrie Whitney (Rick), Fairbanks, Alaska. His two sisters, Karen and Ida. He also had two granddaughters, Makayla Whitney and Amy Whitney (Brian); and one great-grandson, Bruce Whitney.
Throughout his life, Ted enjoyed fishing and hunting as often as he could, regardless of the season. In winter, he was often at the beach digging some razor clams or throwing in a crab pot at West Port. In summer, he was trying to pick every Cascade wild blackberry that he could find. As a native Washingtonian, he knew those were the best. If you made him a pie and snuck in a few blueberries, he wasn't happy about it. He and Marsha traveled to Alaska in a motorhome several times. Other favorite vacation spots were the Oregon Coast and various spots around Washington. Ted was a fierce competitor when it came to cribbage, Mexican Train and other games. He was often doing rototilling and mowing jobs when he had time. He wore out several tractors in his life. Ted retired from the City of Centralia Water Department.
