Sharon Kay Maher-Price passed away in the early morning hours of March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born to Robert James Maher Sr. and Margie Vancil-Maher on March 10, 1952, in Pekin, Illinois. Sharon grew up in Taylorville, Illinois, where she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School from 1st grade to 8th grade.
After graduating from 8th grade in 1966, Sharon attended Taylorville Senior High School, graduating with the class of 1970. Sharon continued her education attending Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, from 1971-1973, earning her Associate in Arts degree.
Upon graduating from community college, Sharon married Michael Allan Price Nov. 3, 1973, and embarked on a new life of travel and residency in the states of Illinois, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Oregon and Washington until finally settling in Centralia, Washington, in 1987.
Sharon began her career with the Centralia School District as a paraprofessional at Edison Elementary in 1989, later transferring to Jefferson Lincoln Elementary, where she finally retired in 2020. Sharon found joy and fulfillment working for the Centralia School District and was highly regarded by the children she worked with every day and her co-workers alike.
Sharon loved the 1987 Beauty and the Beast TV series, 60s, 70s and 80s music, dancing, roller-skating, walks, the ocean, pizza, burgers and donuts! She also loved working the school playground, her plants, her little Escort station wagon, her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Sharon left this life grateful for all of the travels, adventures and people she had come to know all along the way.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margie, and her brothers Mark Gerard Maher, Patrick Ambrose Maher, Robert James Maher Jr. and Stephen John Maher. Sharon is survived by her 2 brothers, James Burke Sr. And Larry Campbell, her 3 children Shannon Michelle Price-Lininger (Mark), Centralia, Washington, Nathan Adam Price, Centralia, Washington, Joshua Jacob Price (Amanda), Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
No services will be held per Sharon’s request. To fulfill her final wishes, her children will be returning her cremains to Taylorville, Illinois, to be laid to rest peacefully next to her family.
