Sandy Robert Floe of Randle, Washington, passed away May 4, 2026.
Sandy was born May 19, 1940, in Port Angeles, Washington, to Sanford Maurice Floe and Esther McNee Floe. He attended schools in Beaver, Forks and Everett, and later attended Western Washington University.
He worked as a fire lookout in Clallam County before enjoying a long United States Forest Service civil engineering career in Forks, Steamboat, and Randle/Packwood. In 1980, he started building his home on the Randle homestead, completing the house in 1984, and later built his barn.
He loved drifting the Cowlitz, Sol Duc, Hoh and Bogachiel rivers; cruising his CHB trawler, the Sea Eagle, around Vancouver Island and Alaska; as well as flying his Beechcraft Musketeer.
Sandy is survived by his children, Brian R. Floe and Victoria Floe North (and her children, Ayden and Alexandra); granddaughter Tynasia (Naci) C. Floe, whom he raised; partner Fran Chapple (and her daughter, Tracy, and granddaughter, Juniper); stepdaughter Rosemary Caperton (and her family, Amy, Will and Gavyn); granddaughter Kastle J. Floe; granddaughter Emma Melgardshagen; along with numerous relatives.
