In loving memory of Sandra L. Gripp Pace: 1940-2024

Posted

It is with sadness that Sandy's family relates her unexpected death in Olympia, Washington, on Nov. 29, 2024. On Aug. 24, 1940, Sandy joined the family started by Elmira Ray Craft and Louelmer Craft in Elma, Washington, which already included her brother, Jerry Craft. She experienced the loss of her baby sister Betty Lou and father at a very early age. Perhaps the realization that life could be short ignited the enthusiasm for joy within her.

Sandy spent most of her life in the Pacific Northwest appreciating the beauty of nature. She retired from Weyerhaeuser Rochester Nursery, which had enhanced her love of plants and gardening. Sandy's real focus was her family. She is survived by her children, Calvin Hill, Carmen Miller Holt and Judy Gripp Fisk, with more grandkids and great-grandkids than you could shake a stick at. She loved them all, and they adored her! Sandy also leaves behind her brother, Larry McGrew, and sister Elinor Shephard and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, at Claquato Cemetery. She will be joining the love of her life, Dale Pace, who has been resting there. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you hug and kiss your loved ones and show kindness to friends and strangers alike.
