Ruth passed away on Oct. 18, 2025, at home in Onalaska. She was born in West Virginia in 1941 to William and Hazel Workman. The family later moved to Riffe, Washington. Ruth attended Mossyrock High School. She later in life got her cosmetology license and became a well-known barber. For years, she worked beside her youngest daughter, Sheila, at her shop in Chehalis, Washington.
Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, taking long walks and her trips to Reno.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Jim McAuley; son, John Hanson; daughters, Sharma (Cliff) Compton, Sherry (Bart) Lyons and Sheila (Mark) Fortney; stepsons, Jim McAuley, Scott (Jenn) McAuley and Jason (Meranda) McAuley; a brother; two sisters; eight grandkids; 19 great-grandkids; and a great-great-grandson.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, four brothers and a great-granddaughter.
