Russell Allen Douglas was born on Dec. 11, 1944, in Yakima, Washington, to Edwin George Douglas and Louisa Mae Davis. He passed away on July 2, 2025.
Russ spent his childhood through high school in Sunnyside, Washington, and went on to graduate during his military service. He proudly served in the Navy from 1962 to 1965, along with his lifelong friend Dick Coupal. The two wild young men were given an option to join and serve or be shipped to juvenile hall — good choices were made!
Russ served as a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff from 1970 to 1984. He then went on to become the president of a private security company. Retiring and moving to Mossyrock in 2003, he became a licensed real estate agent and worked for Century 21 and then for Four U Realty in Packwood at their second office opened in Mossyrock. Soon after, he and four friends partnered to buy that agency and branch out to 4U Real Estate Mossyrock.
Russ was the president of the Road Rebels Car Club and his neighborhood homeowners association, always helping organize the groups. He loved Jeeps and his Jeep groups — that hobby brought many lifelong friends.
In 1965, Russ married Winifred Ann Averall. They had three daughters: Kim, Tawni and Shawni. In 1987, he was married again. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Hilda (Lehman) Douglas, at the home they built together in 2003 — a place where he loved to feed his adopted and beloved deer, raccoons, crows, possums, skunks and cats. Anyone could find him feeding and caring for the adopted group of animals he so lovingly tended. He worked to make a great, safe home for them all on the property.
In addition to Hilda, he is survived by his daughters, Kim Baker, Shawni McMichael and Tawni Zwingler; his stepdaughter, Camille Stancin; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Russ was well loved and respected in every community his life touched. He will be greatly missed by all.
