Mildred Ola Franks, 92, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2025, in Longview, Washington.
Born on April 6, 1933, in Marion, North Carolina, Mildred lived a full and vibrant life. She worked as a produce clerk and caregiver and embraced her roles as a devoted wife, mother and friend. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found strength and comfort reading the Bible and attending Rose Valley Friends Church.
Mildred is lovingly remembered by her husband, Douglas Eugene Franks; her daughter, Debbi Woody Stinson; her son, Duane Woody; and stepsons Steve, Greg and Mike Franks. She is also survived by her oldest brother, Nelson Benfield, age 95. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mack Woody, and her brothers James “Rosebud” Benfield and Jerry “Bo” Benfield.
Mildred found joy in the simple pleasures of life—going to garage sales and traveling—along with spending time at the family cabin near Mayfield Lake. She especially loved Christmas and Thanksgiving, cherishing time with loved ones during the holidays. Even during her late 80s, she could be found riding the lawn mower and tending to her flowers. One of her favorite pastimes was taking drives with Doug through the countryside she adored.
A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held on Oct. 22, 2025, at Steele Chapel Longview Memorial Park in Longview, Washington.
Mildred’s warmth and zest for life touched all who knew her. Her memory will continue to bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
