In Loving Memory of Mary Guenther 1934-2022

Lifelong Lewis County resident, Mary Teresa Guenther, passed away July 11, 2022, in Centralia, Washington. She was born on the Cowlitz Prairie in Toledo, Washington, on June 9, 1934 to Anton Brunner and Hilda Mary Hottinger Brunner. 

She married Richard Guenther at St. Francis Mission in Toledo on April 24, 1954. Richard passed away on Aug. 21, 2013. 

Her life was spent serving her family, the church and the community. During her life, she was a member of the St. Francis Mission, the Cowlitz Prairie Grange, the Alter Society, and participated in several bowling leagues. She served on the Lewis County election board, the Jackson Prairie Precinct, and the committee to remodel the St. Francis Mission Social Hall. 

She enjoyed camping trips to the beach, which often included clam digging. She also enjoyed bowling and attending the national bowling competition in Reno, Nevada. Prior to starting her family, she worked at the National Frozen Foods Cannery. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and all of her siblings: Elizabeth Abel, Leona Gary, Robert Brunner, Helen John and Agnes Grauman. She is survived by four sons and their spouses, Jerry and Vickie, Dan and Becky, Ron and Andra, and Scott and Sherri; grandchildren Ryan, Kurtis, Matthew, Kenton, Austin, Abby, Logan, Shayla and Shad; and 11 great-grandchildren Flint, Loxley, Koa, Jeffery, Kenzington, Kairi, Gracie, Kendyl, London, Beliese and Cale. 

A graveside service will be held on July 19, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Claquato Cemetery with Cattermole Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
