Posted

Jennie Marie Goodwin Kelly entered into eternal life and was reunited with her loved ones from the comfort of her family's home in Onalaska, Washington, at the age of 91 on May 30, 2022. She was born the eldest of three children to Robert Goodwin and Cordelia Greer on Oct. 26, 1930, in Bremer, Washington.

Marie attended and graduated from Morton High School in 1949. She participated in several clubs, was a baton twirler and made many lifelong friends.

Marie met and fell for her "wild Irishman" Joe Kelly and they were married on Nov. 26, 1949. They had six sons and one daughter. They moved to the Old Kelly Homestead. She said it was a wonderful place to raise their family, being nestled in the woods. She also said raising her children were the best years of her life. She always had a large vegetable garden and did a lot of canning and preserving. The large skillets full of deer and elk steak she fried up for her family and visitors were countless. Her interests and hobbies included reading, knitting, crocheting, gardening and thrift store shopping. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church & St. Martha's Guild in Morton. Marie and Joe loved watching birds, especially the hummingbirds, as well as deer and herds of elk at the Kelly Ranch. They were married 64 years at the time of his death.

Marie was known for her gentle spirit and was so very loved and cherished by her seven children, 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Dan (Erlene), of Colville, Bob (Cindy), of Randle, Lawrence (Helene), of Castle Rock, Kathy Kelly, of Yuma, Arizona and Onalaska, and Brian, of Chehalis; daughter-in-law Sara, of Glenoma; brother, Dick Goodwin, of Centralia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; two sons, Patrick and Gerald; grandson, Justin Auman; and brother Don Goodwin.

Her family is respecting her request there be no memorial service in her honor.
