In loving memory of Lawrence Love Jr.: 1933-2026

Posted

Lawrence Herbert Love Jr. was born in Tacoma, Washington, on April 23, 1933. Larry passed away peacefully Jan. 2, 2026.

Larry was born to Mary P. and Lawrence H. Love in Tacoma, Washington. Larry grew up in Tacoma along with his two sisters, Mary Lu and Catherine. Larry became an electrician, following in his father's footsteps. He joined the Navy, and it was when he was stationed in or near Pennsylvania that he met his soon-to-be wife, Beverly Alice Foster of Erie, Pennsylvania. They married Dec. 27, 1952.

They moved to Ocean Shores, Washington, in 1961 and raised their family there. Larry was a key part of the development of Ocean Shores while owning an electrical, plumbing and contracting business. Larry was very proud of the many contributions he made to the community of Ocean Shores. Larry and Bev raised three children there, Steven, Jeffery and Linda. The family moved to Chehalis, Washington, in 1974, where Larry continued to work as an electrician. He loved the side job of being an auctioneer, square dancing and gardening.

The love of his life, Bev, passed away May 21, 2011, and his heart was broken. God had other plans and brought the second love of his life into his life, Mary Bridgewater, through square dancing. Larry was blessed to find Mary, and they married Aug. 9, 2014. Larry and his family felt just as blessed to have Mary join the family. Mary filled that hole in Larry's heart and made him so happy!

Larry believed deeply in the Lord our Savior. He was a gentle, kind man. He put his family first. Loved with all his heart. Worked hard and was always willing to help those who asked. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Steven; daughter, Linda; grandchildren, April, Joel and Lea; great-grandchildren, Brodey, Alayna, Lylah, Alexandria, Caleb and Nathan; and many bonus grandchildren.

God bless Larry and may he rest in peace. We all miss and love you!

Graveside service only will be held May 8, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Salkum Cemetery, Washington.
